12 Things You May Not Have Put On Your CDH Baby Registry

Pregnant women with CDH baby

Doing a baby shower after your baby has been diagnosed with CDH is scary. There is so much uncertainty and so many questions that still need answers before you can even start thinking about a baby shower. Yet, a baby shower can bring normalcy to a pregnancy that otherwise feels completely foreign. It can bring hope during challenging times and give you the strength to keep fighting for your sweet baby. Remember, it's also okay to decide not to have a baby shower if it's not right for YOU. Instead, you can request gift cards that can be used if you have to relocate or other unforeseen expenses pop up. Keep in mind that you have family members and friends who want to help you. It's often hard to know how to help, but this is one of the simplest ways they can support you during your CDH journey. Let them help you!

If you decide you do want to have a baby shower, here are some of the community's favorite registry items that you may not have thought of:

  1. Owlet Dream Sock: This allows you to track your baby's heart rate and average oxygen levels while they sleep. Reviewers agree that you can see real-time heart rate and oxygen levels on multiple devices using the Owlet app, which helps give you peace of mind.

  2. Baby Car Seat Mirror Camera Monitor: With this baby monitor in your car, you can watch the baby's every move without having the need to turn around or look through a tiny mirror. This specific model is convenient because you can have a broader view than the traditional baby mirror. You're able to adjust the camera's up and down angle to best fit your car model and the size of the car seat.

  3. Children Digital Fingertip Pulse Oximeter & Blood Oxygen Saturation Monitor: This pulse oximeter is specially designed for kids. According to reviews, all the child has to do is put their finger into the chamber, and it tells you their blood oxygen level and their blood within seconds.

  4. Infant Optics DXR-8 Video Baby Monitor: This is a great monitor to use in your Tiny Hero's room. No set-up is required, and it offers a balance between size, weight, video, and audio performance. It also has an alarm function, a remote thermometer, and invisible IR night vision.

  5. Car Seat Covers: We know that our CDH babies are high-risk, and we want to make sure they're protected from all the germs. This car seat literally says, "Stop! Your germs are too big for little me! Please look, don't touch, thank you very much!" That way, you don't have to say it yourself!

  6. Reversible Shopping Cart Cover: Grocery stores are full of germs, and unfortunately, there are many high-contact areas. A shopping cart is one of them! This cart cover has extra padding, a cell phone pouch, a bottle strap, and pockets. It is guaranteed to fit in Walmart, Target, Costco, and Sam's club carts.

  7. Bear Straw Cup: This cup is designed to teach lip rounding, tongue retraction, and other oral motor skills. For our Tiny Heroes, this cup is good for helping combat oral aversions and when teaching them to drink by mouth.

  8. Playtex Potty Genie: This potty genie is amazing when trying to avoid bathroom germs. You can easily dispose of used liners, and it has an antimicrobial bowl that prevents bacteria and odors. It is an excellent solution for a hassle-free bathroom break in the home & on-the-go.

*Note: When they get older, these disposable seat covers are great to protect your child from public toilet germs.

  9. Bows/Socks/Mitten Sets: Your Tiny Hero may not be able to wear normal baby clothes at the beginning because of all the tubes, wires, and other equipment, so bows, headbands, socks, and mittens are a great way to feel like you have a say in what they wear.

  10. Muslin Baby Swaddle Blankets: These specific blankets are crafted from only pure 100% cotton, and they have strict standards on the final weave and thickness of the blankets. They are also multifaceted, so they can be used as nursing covers, burp cloths, playtime blankets, etc.

  11. Baby Carrier: Baby carriers are a great way to protect your baby from germs in public. People are less likely to approach your baby if their head is buried against your body. It also keeps your hands free while out and about.

  12. Chicco KeyFit 30 Infant Car Seat: The community loves this car seat. This car seat carrier includes removable head and body support to accommodate newborns as small as 4 pounds. It also has a 5-point harness with a one-pull tightener to help keep your Tiny Hero secure.

*Here is the KeyFit Caddy Frame Stroller that goes along with it, so you don't have to even take the baby out when you're on the go!
