Briella's Story - Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH)

Hello! My daughter’s name is Briella she was an undiagnosed right sided CDH baby. I had her at 37 weeks and I had her in a small hospital and she was airlifted to Levine Children’s Hospital and that is where we learned what she had and how they were doing to fix it she had her first surgery. At 3 days old we had a few rough nights but overall she did well and we got discharged after a month in the NICU!

When she was 14 months old we had learned that a hole grew beside her patch and most of her intestines and part of her colon was in her right chest cavity. What was suppose to be a 4 hour surgery turned into a 6 hour surgery. They had to rearrange everything and her liver was stuck to her previous patch and she has an extra piece of intestine. She had to have a chest tube put in because she had fluid in her right chest cavity.

She is 2 now and is doing great! Thank you for allowing us to share her story!
